Gulf storms don’t stop at the state line
Hurricanes that make landfall along Florida’s Big Bend often track straight through Lowndes County. Hurricane Helene did exactly that in 2024, bringing hurricane-force gusts to Valdosta and taking down huge numbers of pines and oaks across the city and surrounding communities. Roof damage, tree impacts and long power outages led to a wave of claims — and a wave of fast, thin estimates.
Valdosta’s housing stock includes historic homes near downtown and the university, mid-century neighborhoods and a growing number of newer subdivisions, along with military families connected to Moody Air Force Base who may be relocating while a claim is still open.

Questions from Valdosta property owners
I’m PCSing soon. Can my claim continue after I move?
Yes. Appraisal doesn’t require you to be present at every step. We can coordinate inspections with a representative and keep you updated remotely.
Does a hurricane deductible apply to every claim from the storm?
It applies to losses that fall within the deductible’s definition and time window in your policy. Use our deductible calculator to see what it means in dollars.
